In continuation of the terror strikes across the country, Assam was rocked by one of the worst ever terror strikes killing at least 58 persons and injuring over 300 people.11 bombs ripped through districts of Kamrup (Guwahati city), Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Barpeta - of Assam.

Series of blasts in city after the other has put a question mark on government’s ability to tackle terrorism or at least show some willingness to do the same. Terrorist organizations are able to strike at will and government’s lethargic attitude is making things easier for them. This has put a question mark on government’s ability to handle internal security and its willingness to crackdown on such terror outfits.

Intelligence agencies have failed time and again and no lessons have been learnt. No revamping of intelligence system is planned and no stringent laws are proposed to tackle terrorism. Shivraj Patil looks too helpless every time he’s inquired on terrorism front. Less talk and more actions on ground is what’s required.

Besides this more awareness need to be spread across the masses about how people can contribute to tackle terrorism. Government need to realize the fact that people support is crucial in this fight. Whole internal security system needs revamping and more stringent laws need to be in place. Government’s failure on terrorism front send wrong signals to international community and ‘India Emerging’ story takes a serious hit.
